During the Korean War, a few countries were involved.
In support of South Korea, the U.S was there to help them out. Though the U.S had already lost their men an supplies from the post- World War II, they still had substantial forces in Japan to oppose the North Korean military. These U.S forces were under the command of General Douglas Macarthur. Apart from British Commonwealth units, no other nation could supply sizable manpower.
As for the opposite side, mainly the axis countries such as China, were in support of North Korea. They brought their troops just as the U.S did and fought for what they believed in, communism. North Korea and other countries wanted to be able o control their people and do what they want to do.
The actions carried out by each country shows what their beliefs were.
The U.S were obviously strongly against communism and ended up giving a helping hand to South Korea. They wanted a peaceful world of democracy. Meanwhile on the other side, China, North Korea, and the Axis in general, thought otherwise. The leaders believed that they were the only ones that should be allowed to make decisions and thought that they knew best. North Korea desperately wanted communism to take over all of Korea and even possibly the rest the of the world as well.
Both sides fought for what they believed was the right answer.
